Pill Side Effects

* If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Sinemet and seek emergency medical attention:
o an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
o uncontrolled movements of a part of your body;
o seizures;
o severe nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea;
o an irregular heartbeat or fluttering in your chest;
o unusual changes in mood or behavior; or
o depression or suicidal thoughts.
* Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Sinemet and talk to your doctor if you experience
o mild nausea, vomiting, or decreased appetite;
o constipation, dry mouth, or blurred vision;
o hand tremor;
o muscle twitches;
o dizziness or drowsiness;
o insomnia, confusion, or nightmares;
o agitation or anxiety;
o darkening of your urine, sweat, or saliva; or
o fatigue.
* Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

o Blurred vision; confusion (especially in elderly patients); difficult urination (especially in elderly patients); fainting; hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there); swelling of hands, feet, or lower legs

* Rare
o Convulsions (seizures); decreased vision or any change in vision; difficulty in coordination ; fever, chills, or sore throat; increased blood pressure; increase in body movements ; irritation and swelling of the eye; loss of memory; mental depression; severe mood or mental changes; skin rash; slurred speech; thoughts of suicide or attempts at suicide; unexplained shortness of breath

Other side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine.

Other side effects not listed above may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your doctor.

Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory.
