Kerry Katona on This Morning Chlorpromazine or Alcohol?

On January 24, 2009, in Alcohol, by PillSideEffects
"The main side effects of chlorpromazine are due to its anticholinergic properties; these effects overshadow and counteract, to some extent, the extrapyramidal side effects typical of many early generation neuroleptics. These include sedation, slurred speech, dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention and possible lowering of seizure threshold. Appetite may be increased with resultant weight gain, Glucose tolerance may be impaired. Photosensitivity may occur, resulting in increased risk of sunburn.""Appearing on the 22 October 2008 live episode of ITV's This Morning show, Katona's speech appeared to be slurred, prompting viewers to phone in during the interview to ask if she was okay. Katona blamed her unclear speech on having taken the prescription antipsychotic drug Chlorpromazine late the previous night, and according to the presenters was angry at having been asked about it on air. In the same interview, whilst asked by Fern Britton on air whether her drug addiction had been replaced by an alcohol addiction, Katona dismissed the claims. According to various British magazines, Katona's current partner Mark has walked out on her and their four children. On 9 November, 2008, Katona admitted to The People newspaper that she was an alcoholic, having been diagnosed 4 years ago after a stay in The Priory clinic."– wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerry_Katonahttp://www.itv.com/Lifestyle/ThisMorning/features/KerryKatona001/default.html
